Owen Coyle Got What He Deserved

May 27, 2012

Owen Coyle

Bolton Wanderers Football Club were relegated from the English Premier League two and a half years after Owen Coyle took over as manager. It took a while, but it finally happened.

Coyle helped Burnley gain promotion to The Prem from the Coca Cola Football League Championship in 2009, and had the team looking impressive in their first Premier League season.       (more…)

Six Reasons Why Manchester City FC Deserve to be Champions

May 15, 2012

Manchester City beat Queens Park Rangers with two goals in stoppage time to win their first Barclays English Premier League title in 44 years. Coincidentally, they recorded 44 shots in the match.

Although I am a Manchester United fan, I have to congratulate The Citizens on their hard work and a well deserved championship.

In light of their accomplishment, I have analyzed the key factors in their championship-winning season.     (more…)

Roy Hodgson the Right Man for England?

April 30, 2012

Roy Hodgson

Roy Hodgson was born in 1947.

His playing career started in ‘63 when he joined the Crystal Palace youth team. Hodgson played with 7 teams before retiring in ‘76 but Palace is the only team worth mentioning.

As soon as he retired he went right into coaching and has now coached 18 teams. Of the 15 club teams the most notable were Inter Milan, Blackburn, Copenhagen, Udinese, Fulham, and Liverpool. He is currently managing West Brom. His national teams were Switzerland, UAE, and Finland. He hasn’t actually been hired by ‘The Three Lions’ yet.    (more…)

NBA’s Best Point Guards

April 6, 2012

The point guard position is one of the most important, if not the most important position in the NBA. They are otherwise known as floor generals; are compared to quarterbacks; and operate as captains whether they’re  named as such by their coaches.

Today’s PGs are offensively talented and they need to be just as good defensively, because the guy they’re guarding is usually another point guard.

At the turn of the century the NBA was losing fans because it seemed like a game of superstars, rather than team play, hard work, and winning. I’ve heard more than enough people say that NCAA ball was better.           (more…)

Kevin Hart is the Funniest Man Alive?

Kevin Hart Drives against TIM Hardaway

You may or may not agree with that opinion but it’s a fact that he is a fool.

Last night was the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, the annual curtain-raiser for the NBA’s All-Star Weekend; a game of actors, singers, rappers, television personalities, NBA Legends, male athletes from other sports, and usually a WNBA star or two. The game was a classic East vs West battle.

The West team boasted the old Golden State Warriors trio, Run TMC (Tim Hardaway, Mich Richmond, and Chris Mullin). Other notable stars were JB Smoove, Ne-Yo, and Common – who is not an NBA player but played one on TV. Common and the East’s J Cole had a head-to-head battle that was dominated by J Cole, as he invited him into “Cole World.”   (more…)

What Would it Take For You to Watch Badminton?

February 25, 2012

Mesinee Mangkalakiri

The World Badminton Federation may have suggested that women have a more “attractive presentation,” by wearing a skirt or dress as part of their uniform. Okay maybe it is more than just a suggestion. It is a new rule that has stirred uproar in the women’s badminton community, if such a community exists.

Mesinee “May” Mangkalakiri, a 2008 Olympian with the United States, was quoted as saying “It doesn’t matter what Kobe Bryant wears, people like his skills on the court. You’d hope they come to watch you because you are their favorite player and you have ability and style, not because you’re wearing someone’s favorite skirt.” Sorry May but I disagree.      (more…)

Association Football World Best XI (4-5-1 with 7 subs)

February 23, 2012

Lionel Messi

Goalkeeper

Joe Hart – Loads of talent and still more to come.

Defenders

Maicon – If he gets picked over Dani Alves by the national team coach, he must be better.

Gerard Pique – He doesn’t have to defend much against La Liga teams but still is able to avoid complacency. He earns his money in the big games and performs so well you start thinking that maybe he isn’t being overpaid as a defender on a Barcelona team that doesn’t defend much.     (more…)
